CAMP project was established by dozens of researchers of Japanese industrial companies in 1990, who were dedicated to computer aided material design. In the project, the researchers have exchanged research information, and discussion and stimulating each other.
A program based on Car-Parrinello method was developed to share knowledge and techniques of computational method. The program called "CAMP-Atami" was distributed as a free software in 1994, through JCPE(Japan Chemistry Program Exchange).
